Justice served as man jailed for spiking drink with abortion drugs.
A man who caused a woman to lose her baby by spiking her orange juice with abortion drugs has been sentenced to 12 years in jail.
Stuart Worby, 40, crushed a tablet of mifepristone and secretly mixed it into the woman's drink. Later, he used another drug to cause the miscarriage after assaulting her. The woman, who was 15 weeks pregnant, suffered severe reactions, including vomiting, bleeding, and a high fever.
Despite her condition, Worby initially refused to take her to the hospital. He later did, and the next day, she lost her baby. While this was happening, Worby texted a friend, saying, "It's working" and "there is lots of blood."
“This pain will never leave me, knowing this baby could have been my only chance to be a mother,” the victim said in her statement.
Devastating Impact
The victim shared her heartbreak in court, saying she had been trying for years to have a child. After this incident, she was told she couldn’t conceive again. She said losing the baby had caused her "grief that will never heal."
“I have to face the knowledge that the only baby I could have had was lost.”
Worby obtained the abortion drugs by convincing someone to pretend they were pregnant and get the medication for him. He then used these drugs to carry out his plan. His actions were described as "cruel and calculated" by the prosecutors.
Sentencing and Accountability
The judge sentenced Worby to 12 years for administering poison to cause a miscarriage. He also received a concurrent sentence of 8 years for sexual assault. Additionally, he was ordered to pay £10,000 as compensation to the victim.
Another person involved, Nueza Cepeda, 39, helped Worby get the drugs. She was given a suspended sentence of 22 months.
The victim continues to struggle with the emotional and physical pain caused by this incident. She hopes for justice to protect other women from similar acts of cruelty.
